Why I Almost Cried Outside the Coffee Shop

By , November 18, 2013 5:02 pm

This afternoon, I held back tears after a barista shooed me out of a coffee shop for bringing my dog. It was advertised as “dog-friendly” on Yelp.

Earlier today, I spent an hour on a job application only to be deemed ineligible at the last step: a two-part questionnaire.

This morning, someone on my Twitter newsfeed announced they were hired for a job I had interviewed for. The hiring manager, who had met me in-person and encouraged me to apply for the job, never got in touch to let me know. This is the second time this specific hiring manager has treated me this way.

At least there was the park.

I’m sorry to hear about your day! I would hate being shooed out of anywhere! I hope that the remainder of your week has been better!
